TAPD officer Elliott Justinger has been promoted to the K-9 unit and has recently been united with his new four-legged partner, Eiko.  They are both currently attending explosive detection training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. The DHS/TSA is a three-month intensive program that provides K-9 officers with the tools, techniques, and knowledge to better understand, train, and utilize detection dogs.  

Eiko, is a two year-old German Shorthair, who apparently has overreaching enthusiasm for the job. Justinger, in the fourth week of training, is patiently learning how to manage Eiko’s energetic personality. 

This is a fun fact but one worth sharing... apparently Canines are “married up” to their handlers by matching similar personality traits.  I am sure some of Elliott's fellow officers and friends are smiling about this.
