Rusty Nickel and NFTA Leadership
Rusty Nickel Brewing Company, in conjunction with the Jacobs School of Medicine and the NFTA, held a press event on Tuesday in support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a national nonprofit organization that has driven research for inherited retinal diseases for over 48 years.

During the conference, Katie Brown, General Manager of Rusty Nickel and the daughter of Metro Operator Tim Brown, indicated that retinal disease affects over 10 million Americans each year.   She thanked the NFTA for its support in dedicating its Metro August monthly pass image to the foundation to help raise awareness of retinal disease and the importance of raising funds for research.

In support of this great cause, Rusty Nickel Brewing (4350 Seneca Street), is hosting its first WNY VisonFest on Saturday, August 24 starting at 12 p.m.  The day will be filled with live music, games, prizes, and vendors. Food and drink will be available for purchase throughout the day. Family-friendly activities are scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. After 4:00 p.m. guests must be of age 21 and over and have valid i.d. Local musicians will take the stage under the main tent from 12:00 until 11:00 p.m. Children 12 and under free admission.

Proceeds will be donated to Foundation Fighting Blindness to fund research that will discover preventions, treatments, and cures for retinal degenerative diseases. Their hope is that, one day, we can reverse blindness and restore vision in millions of people.  For more information about the mission of Foundation Fighting Blindness, visit https://www.fightingblindness.org/.
