Increasing spend with diverse suppliers is very important to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). New York State (NYS) Certification is a key requirement for MWBE spending to count in NFTA MWBE participation goals.  Suppliers with NYS certification will more likely grow their business with NFTA and various other New York State Agencies and Authorities.  The following ideas may help your business grow:

1) Register On-line for NFTA procurements

    To register as a potential supplier with the NFTA, go to nfta.com, select NFTA departments and click on "Bids" where you will be guided through the supplier registration process.  You will select the category or categories that match the materials and services you provide.  Once registered, you will receive an e-mail when a bid opportunity in your category is going to be opened.  Only registered suppliers will be notified. Bids must be directly downloaded for our website.

2) Create or procure a capability statement

    A capability statement is a concise, one page document of your business competencies. Think of it as your business's resume. Its purpose is to provide specific information that will convince potential customers to do business with you.

3) Purchase or create business cards

     As much as we have moved into the electronic age, face to face meetings with a business card to pass still makes you more memorable.  A card with a picture of you is best and always include your social media contact info.  Many new vendors are found on LinkedIn^™ and other sites.

4) Come to Pre-bid meetings which are listed in the Bid/RFP

     A pre-bid meeting is an opportunity for you to meet prospective Prime Contractors who will most likely be bidding on the project.  For Bids/RFP's with MWBE participation goals they will appreciate knowing your firm is out there as a possible sub-contractor.  Pass out you Capability Statements and Business Cards.
