Alex Schultz has been promoted to Metro Rail Assistant Supervisor of Electric Power. He has been with the  NFTA for 4-1/2 years and has encountered a fast-track career of promotion and increased responsibility working within rail car, communications, power, and train control.  Alex is currently in charge of the third shift power department, overseeing rail station transformers, lighting, and power distribution of the overhead 650-volt system. He manages rail field electricians, provides technical assistance and team training, and oversees the rail system’s escalator and elevator inspections.

Alex became interested in working for Metro from his Boy Scout Leader, who retired from NFTA a few years ago. After Alex graduated from high school, he applied to work for Metro and was hired as a Helper.  He continued to pursue his passion for electric technology and trained at Erie Community College to get his Associate Degree in Computer and Electronics Technology.  Since then, he has achieved great professional strides and is known as a rising star at Metro Rail.

“Metro has allowed me many opportunities to progress within the company quickly. I am extremely grateful to Metro’s leadership team for recognizing my talents early on and mentoring me along the way. There’s no place I’d rather work. At age 25, I have more than a job -- I have an amazing career doing something I love.”

Alex is also a car enthusiast and enjoys going to car shows. He also has a cat named Indy, who is named after Indiana Jones.
