The kitchen table at most career firehouses is often the primary focal point of the station. Everyone gathers there for meetings. It is also an area where the team has "family" time.
The ARFF table has a cool story. It was originally discovered by one of the firefighters at a remodeling store where they were going to throw it out. It appeared big enough so that everyone on the crew could sit around it, unlike ARFF's old table. So, he asked if he could have it and brought it to the (former) station. Members of the ARFF crew cleaned it up and put their current logo on it.
When it came time to move to the new firehouse facility, the ARFF team insisted that the table went with them. The logo and glass top were updated, and it looks brand new. It has now become a focal point in the ARFF firehouse and something that the team is very proud to have.
As a side note, Assistant ARFF Chief Jessica Strom, designed the current patch/logo which is represented on the table.
