On Saturday, April 18, our Airport Rescue and Firefighting Team (ARFF) welcomed 156 candidates to the Airport Firehouse for the written exam as part of NFTA's recruitment process to fill open firefighter positions. Our Airport firefighters play a critical role in ensuring the safety of the traveling public, airport employees, and aircraft operations. In addition to responding to aircraft emergencies, ARFF team members provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and standby aircraft protection.

“We are looking for dedicated professionals who are ready to serve at Western New York’s most important transportation gateways,” says Fire Chief Bill Major. “Our airport firefighters are highly skilled, highly trained, and essential to maintaining the safety and security of millions of passengers each year.”

The physical agility test will take place on May 16 for candidates who have passed the written exam.
