Every year, hundreds of students come to the Buffalo Airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility to get a firsthand look at operations and learn about fire prevention. This year, however, due to COVID-19 concerns, in-person visits are no longer possible, so the ARFF’s fire-fighting team made a video (a virtual “Open House”). This video is available for students throughout Western New York, online 24/7. The “Open House” video gives a behind the scenes look at the Buffalo Airport firefighting team, its facility, and provides valuable fire prevention tips to help keep families safe.
“It’s another way to reach the community,” Kim Minkel, Executive Director, NFTA said. “We are making the video available for students in an effort to keep fire prevention and safety top of mind.”
“The virtual, Open House highlights fire prevention information including important kitchen safety tips.” says ARFF fire chief William Major. “With more families at home working, learning, and cooking, it is important to stay alert and practice vigilant household fire safety.”
