As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday on January 15, we asked some of our NFTA leaders while on a recent visit to Buffalo's Freedom Wall about what Dr. King means to them. Here is what they said below:
Kim Minkel, Executive Director
“When I reflect upon Martin Luther King Jr. and this day of remembrance, I think about what he did for our nation. I look at this wall behind me, and my hope is as it turns heads, it also turns hearts.”
James Morrell, Director, Public Transit
“As we celebrate Martin Luther King's Birthday, we are all reminded that this mural serves as a symbol of unity and resilience. He provided an opportunity for individuals to see individuals as they are, to serve as a beacon for individuals to thrive, and to do what they want in this country. It is a very, very big day for everyone. I hope everyone will take advantage of doing something good on that day and every day here in the City of Buffalo.”
Barbara Thomas, Operations Manager, Cold Spring
“It is a day to reflect on his message of equality, justice, and nonviolence. Martin Luther King Jr. Day means that we just reflect on the things that he did. He stood for nonviolence, and we must keep that in mind.”
We hope you will watch our tribute videos that honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
