As we pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are highlighting Buffalo's beloved Freedom Wall. The NFTA is proud of our collaboration with the AKG Art Museum, the Michigan Street African-American Heritage Corridor, and neighborhood stakeholders to bring the dream of this mural to life.

It is an impactful way to celebrate our nation’s historic and ongoing struggles for political and social equality, including the formative and lasting contributions of local leaders to this cause. The large concrete wall surrounding our Cold Spring Bus Maintenance Depot has been transformed into portraits of twenty-eight notable civil rights leaders from America’s past and present. Dr. King is one of the extraordinary African American leaders illustrated in the public art and represents a staple model for civil and economic equality.
