Mike Pilarski is retiring from NFTA-Metro at the end of January after 40 years of dedicated service.
Mike's impressive journey began in 1985 when he started as a Porter for Metro Rail, eventually transferring to the (then-known) Broadway and Bailey Station to work as a Driver. After that, Mike spent 13 years at Babcock Station before moving to Cold Spring, where he worked for 7 years. Throughout these 20 years, he served as a part-time rail operator and part-time clerk. With the exceptional support of both Metro's Transportation Supervisor and Operations Manager, Mike made significant strides in his career, ultimately achieving the role of Transportation Supervisor. Over the past 20 years at Babcock Station, Mike has excelled in his role and mentored countless others, benefiting from the guidance of an inspiring manager and the collaboration of exceptional teammates.
As Mike approaches retirement, he wishes to express his gratitude to everyone he has worked with, including managers, supervisors, operators, clerks, and others. His time at Metro has offered him many great opportunities, but the most cherished gift has been the ability to raise a wonderful family with his wife and their three sons. He has built an impressive legacy, and now one of his sons is starting his own career at Metro. As he reflects on his time here, Mike wants to share his motto: "A job is what you make of it. Give it your all, and you will reap the benefits."
Please join in congratulating Mike on his retirement and for achieving this incredible milestone of 40 years!
