Everywhere we go -- we see those big bushels of shiny red cherries this time of year.  And, it's a good thing! Cherries contain a number of beneficial nutrients, such as Vitamin C and antioxidants.

See some of the benefits of eating cherries:

1. Benefits for inflammation

Although a diet that is generally high in fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help lower inflammation, cherries may be particularly beneficial as part of an anti-inflammatory diet.

Studies have found that taking cherry concentrate or eating cherries led to a 35% reduction in gout and joint pain episodes over a 2-day period.

3. Benefits for heart health

Cherries contain several nutrients that may help regulate and/or lower blood pressure, including polyphenols and potassium.

4. Benefits for healthy sleep

Cherries are a good source of melatonin and other chemicals involved in sleep promotion. As a matter of fact they make for a great evening snack -- delicious, healthy, and sleep-friendly.
