On Saturday, September 30, Buffalo Black Achievers, Inc. (BBA), hosted its 51st Annual Awards Gala at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.  NFTA's Marlon Johnson was among the 56 outstanding African Americans who were honored at the event.

Marlon is the definition of an achiever both personally and professionally. He has been with the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority since 1999, his most recent position is Custodian Group Leader at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Throughout his career at the NFTA, Marlon has demonstrated a strong commitment to his profession and community.  Working hard and with tremendous honesty, and integrity.  There are countless stories about Marlon going, the “extra mile.”  Most recently, Marlon found a wallet in a restroom, and he went out of his way to find that person, and return it.  No one from the airport knew what happened, because Marlon never mentioned it, it was only after the fortunate person whose wallet was found sent a very appreciative email to our customer service department.

Marlon has won countless awards, and was the 2023 recipient of the St. Mary’s School for the Deaf Distinguished Alumni Award, an honor for those in the deaf community who are outstanding members of our community. In 1998, he received the “Opening Door to Disability” employee award from The Battery Company. His contributions are vast, and his abilities are countless.

Marlon’s positive attitude, dedication and hard work are an inspiration to all of us. The NFTA and the entire Western New York Community are grateful for his service, leadership and unique ability to connect with people make him a true achiever.

We hope you will join in congratulating Marlon on this great achievement.
