After 23 years, Aviation Director Bill Vanecek is retiring from the NFTA.
Bill joined the NFTA in 1998 to oversee operations at Buffalo and Niagara Falls International Airports. He has managed two major expansions and helped bring in airlines including JetBlue, Southwest and Frontier. The Buffalo Airport went from handling 3.2 million passengers in 1999 to a peak of 5.5 million passengers in 2008 and a pre-Covid average of slightly more than 5 million passengers.
In retirement, Bill plans to spend more time with his three daughters and grandchildren and a little more time on his golf game.
Congratulations Bill, we wish you all of the best!
