Apprenticeship
Marlin, John, Nicholas, and Andrew

We are excited to announce that Marlin, John, Nicholas, and Andrew are starting their apprenticeships with the NFTA. Each brings a unique story:

  • Marlin: He used to work as a Helper at Frontier Garage and was inspired to apply after seeing an internal apprenticeship posting.

  • John: He is a former Operator at Babcock station and is motivated to pursue a Bus Mechanic role after seeing an internal ad.

  • Nicholas: Received recommendations from family on opportunities at the NFTA and is eager to become a Bus Mechanic.

  • Andrew: Discovered the apprenticeship through an Indeed job posting and is taking his first step toward a promising career.

NFTA-Metro offers a pioneering bus mechanic apprenticeship program, New York State’s first of its kind, providing a path to skilled trades with hands-on training and full-time employment benefits. This program aims to enhance our Maintenance and Engineering workforce and support future demand.
