Finding ways to stay active during a busy work week can seem impossible. After a long day at work, exercising is the last thing that most of us want to do, and oftentimes we just skip it. The good news is that it’s easy to incorporate physical activity into your workday (and you don’t even have to do burpees!).

Check out these simple ways to stay active during your workday:

Park away from the office. Park a few blocks away from your office so that you can get a short walk in before and after work.

Try a standing desk. Standing uses more muscles and burns more calories than sitting. It can also be great for your back and posture.

Stretch. Take a little time to stretch at your desk. A great stretch to help reduce back and neck pain is to stretch out your chest and extend your spine to reverse the “hunched” position of sitting.

Move at lunch time. For part of your allotted lunchtime, make it a point to go outside for a walk. You could even go a nearby gym for a quick midday workout.

Start an office fitness challenge. It’s always easier to make healthy choices when you have a support network there encouraging you. You could have a friendly competition to track your steps and see who walks the most in a given time.
