2026 has already been a big year for the Metro Transit Expansion Project with the Federal Transit Administration issuing its official Record of Decision on the project’s Final Environmental Impact Statement in February. This significant milestone represents the culmination of over 10 years of planning to evaluate the potential to extend high-capacity transit service within our community.

With eyes now set on advancing future design phases for the project, we sat down with Jeff Amplement, Metro’s Planning Project Manager, to discuss the vision for expanded service in the Amherst corridor.
