Eugene began working for Metro in 1999 part-time on weekends. When speaking with him, he fondly remembers his early days driving on the 40-Niagara Falls and 13-Kensington. During that time he developed a quick understanding of what it takes to be successful as an operator. This is not as easy as it sounds, there is a lot to do! Eugene moved into a full-time position with Paratransit in 2001. As a PAL driver, he navigated busy roadways such as the 33-Expressway, 190S, 190N, 198, 90E, 90W, 290E, 290W, and the twin city highways on a daily basis.
Eugene is extremely proud of his career with Metro, “It truly has been a great journey. I am honored to have received a 10-year accident-free award and numerous commendations. I enjoy serving my riders in the best way I can, so much so that I have rarely taken a sick day.”
Eugene is our most senior PAL Operator and has consistently been recognized by his co-workers for working hard to keep his riders happy and safe. Congratulations Eugene on a job well done!
