Beginning Monday, May 12, the NFTA Veterans Committee will place POW/MIA Missing Man Table displays at our NFTA facilities. This solemn tradition, which started after the Vietnam War, involves setting a table for one, symbolizing the frailty of one prisoner alone against his oppressors. It honors those who were prisoners of war or went missing in action. Each item on the table contains special symbols to help us remember our fellow Americans who are not with us today.

These displays will remain in place through Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. To preserve their meaning and integrity, we respectfully ask that you do not touch or sit at the POW tables.

The Veterans Committee also invites you to attend our first Flag-Lowering Ceremony, held to remember those who have given their lives in service to our country.

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Location: Metropolitan Transportation Center (181 Ellicott St.)
