Today is a sad time for us here at the NFTA, as we mark the first anniversary of the death of our friend and co-worker, Chequita Smith.

Chequita exemplified the spirit of public service and integrity and was part of the NFTA-Metro family since November 3, 2014. Ms. Smith worked as a dedicated Paratransit Operator for more than nine years and as a Supplemental Instructor (Trainer) for the past four years.

A special ceremony was held at the NFTA on May 17 to pay tribute to Chequita and unveil the beautiful memorial in her name. Ms. Smith touched many lives during her tenure at the NFTA and will always be remembered for her smile, compassion, professionalism, and caring nature.
