Dave Masi is retiring after 30 years with the NFTA. He began his career in 1996 as a morning fill-in traffic reporter. In 1998, he was hired full-time as the Traffic and Advertising Coordinator. During his tenure, he expanded traffic coverage into the afternoons, providing riders with valuable information and increasing NFTA exposure and commercial airtime.

Dave provided NFTA traffic reports on Channel 7 (WKBW) for 16 years and on Channel 2 (WGRZ) for 14 years. He also trained over 25 traffic reporters. On air, he is widely recognized as "Dave Cash," a name he adopted when he started as a part-time employee at the NFTA while also working at Fox 29 under his real name. Dave is also a proud recipient of an Emmy Award as part of the Channel 2 News Daybreak Team for Best Morning News Cast in a medium market, awarded for the team's storm coverage during the WNY blizzard on January 7, 2014.

In addition to his on-air duties, Dave has served as the media buyer for Metro and the Buffalo and Niagara Falls airports. He has lent his voice to numerous NFTA TV and radio commercials, as well as announcements in the Metro system and airport terminals. Dave has also emceed various special events throughout his career and is well-known for his expertise in music trivia.

For the last 28 years, Dave has also represented the NFTA on the WNY incident management team led by  NITTEC. This task force includes local and state transportation officials and emergency responders who work together to develop best practices for storms and other traffic events.

Although we will miss him greatly, Dave is excited to embark on his next adventure in retirement. We hope you will join us for a celebration in his honor on Thursday, April 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MTC's first-floor conference room.
