The Metro Rail team held its Emergency Preparedness Drill on November 3 near its LaSalle Station.
The drill was held in conjunction with the Buffalo Fire Department. The exercise included a mock rail incident in the tunnel near Metro Rail’s LaSalle Station. The event included responses from area fire stations, emergency medical services and the NFTA Transit Police.
To approximate a real emergency, Metro and the BFD involved actors, mannequins, and theatrical smoke. LaSalle Station was closed during the drill and reopened upon completion of the event. For passengers who needed to access the area around LaSalle Station, Metro’s 8-Main bus continued to serve the area throughout the event.
This safety exercise is part of the NFTA's ongoing commitment to emergency readiness and response.
