"Growing up in Buffalo in the 1980s, there was something about traveling down Route 33 toward the airport that made you feel like you were going somewhere. The aviation billboards, piling into our family station wagon, and that sense of anticipation made the trip itself part of the experience. I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the 33, because most of the time we traveled it, we weren’t actually going to the Airport. But when we were going 'all the way down the yellow brick road,' there was no mistaking the feeling. That was something special.

When the new terminal opened, my wife Marcela and I were so excited that we took Metro Bus to the first public open house just to experience it. It is almost surreal now to think back to debating whether the East or West terminal was our favorite, and then to look at the beautiful terminal we have today.  I’m grateful for our airport; for what it meant to me then, and for what it means to our customers today: a pathway home, a gateway to family and fun, or simply a chance to get away, unwind, and enjoy the journey."
