MTC, 181 Ellicott Street

In honor of National Pride Month and to raise awareness and visibility of the LGBTQ community, the NFTA is flying Pride flags at the MTC and the Buffalo Airport.

Every year, during the month of June, the LGBTQ community celebrates in a number of different ways. Various events are held during this special month as a way of recognizing the impact that the LGBTQ community has had throughout the world.

The NFTA participated in Buffalo's Pride festival for the first time last year, which was initiated by the NFTA's Pride Planning Committee (established in 2019).  Their goal is to show organizational support for LGBTQ communities, and more broadly support a diverse and inclusive ridership and workforce. While the festival and parade were cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 health crisis and Buffalo Pride Week postponed until August 17-23, we are proud to raise a rainbow flag for the first time ever on NFTA properties.

If you are interested in joining the committee or getting involved in special events, please reach out to any of its members:  Chair Nadine Chalmers, Vicky-Marie Brunette, Helen Tederous, Marisa Mauro, Rob Jones, Carolyn Concannon, and Holly Nidell.
