Today, NFTA team members gathered at the Airport Firehouse to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11. The event, hosted by the NFTA's veterans committee, honored the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the lasting impact of this fateful day on our nation.
Speakers, including our Executive Director Kim Minkel, ARFF Chief William Major, Holly Nidell, and David Masi, emphasized the importance of remembering the tragic events while reinforcing the strength that comes from community, service, and unity. The Airport Firehouse, a symbol of readiness and commitment to public safety, provided a fitting and meaningful backdrop for the ceremony.
The tribute featured a formal flag‑lowering conducted by the NFTA's Veterans Committee, alongside members of our TAPD and ARFF teams. The event concluded with a moment of silence and the playing of Taps, underscoring the shared bonds that connect us and the continued commitment to remember the past.
