Senator Chris Jacobs came out to Metro's Cold Spring Station today to recognize Operator Washington Lewis as Veteran of the Month on behalf of his extraordinary 10 years of military service.  The Senator's program honors veterans from NYS whom have gone above and beyond the call of duty, both for military service and contributions to their community. Selected honorees must reside in the 60th Senate District and have received an honorable discharge.

Washington served in both the Air Force, 1978-1987, and Army Reserves, 1988-1989.  He held the rain of E-5 Staff Sergeant.  During his service his honors include Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Force Training Ribbon; Air Force Overseas Service; Short Tour Ribbon; Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster; and NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon.

Washington was very excited about being recognized by Senator Jacobs today and was thrilled to be surrounded by his family and representatives from NFTA Metro and the ATU.

Congratulations Washington on your well-deserved honor.  We thank you for your service!
