October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), a nationally recognized time to raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of domestic violence.

New York is a national leader in providing domestic workers with rights and protections, having passed the nation's first Domestic Workers Bill of Rights in 2010, and in combating domestic violence through comprehensive survivor-centered programs and services. The state's Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) and the Office of Victim Services (OVS) lead these efforts by providing services, technical assistance, and advocating on behalf of survivors.

This DVAM, we encourage you to participate in Purple Thursday on October 16. Wear purple to work and show your support for victims and survivors of domestic violence.
