It's important to stay active while social distancing and staying home during the COVID-19 health crisis. Below are a few tips to help you get through:
Try and reduce long periods of time spent sitting. Take short 3-5 minute breaks every 30 minutes. Simply stand up and stretch or even better, take a walk around the house, up and down the stairs, or into the garden. By just moving around and stretching you can improve your health and well-being.
Set up a regular exercise routine. Set a specific time for daily physical activity. Put time in your calendar to work out whether it's on your own or by using online resources. Stick with the schedule, as this will help you adjust to new ways of family life under COVID-19 restrictions.
Be active with your family. Set time for playing games with your children, walking in the park, or other home activities (even cleaning) so that you can work together and stay healthy as a family.
Set goals. Get each family member to choose their own activity goals, which sets a bit of a challenge but is realistic with help and motivation. Record your “team’s” progress through a family activity chart and celebrate successes with special fun activities.
