Our TAPD celebrated its 40th Anniversary with an awards ceremony on June 21. The Department's official date of origination is May 14, 1984.

During the event, our officers were presented with a 40th Anniversary badge, which will be honored and authorized for wear for one year.  The badge design encompasses the NFTA's transportation history and depicts a 3D-raised airplane, bus, railcar, and cargo ship -- all of the elements of the original NFTA logo. The red in the badge is to symbolize a ruby as its the designated stone to celebrate 40 years.

The event included remarks from TAPD leadership and our Executive Director, Kim Minkel. During the ceremony, officers were presented with various awards, including Officer of the Year and a Chief's Award as well as other life-saving recognitions.

Various pieces of TAPD history were also on display outside of the station for guests to view before and after the event.
