Blue Cross and Blue Shield of WNY has provided tips for shopping at the grocery store and eating healthily during the COVID-19 health crisis.  Please see below:

Before going to the store:

  • Make a list so that your trip is efficient
  • Check store hours (many are limited now)
  • Take along: disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, face covering, gloves (if desired), and payment
  • Avoid excess baggage
  • Send only one family member if possible
  • Plan ahead if using pick up or delivery service

At the store:

  • Be sure to have precautions in place such as wearing a face covering and/or gloves
  • Wipe down your cart
  • Practice social distancing
  • Limit what you touch, whether wearing gloves or not
  • Avoid touching your face or cell phone while shopping
  • Use your list as your guide
  • Use hand sanitizer as you arrive and when you leave

Upon returning home from the store:

  • Remove face covering and gloves (either throw into laundry or discard properly)
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water
  • Wipe down your steering wheel, cell phone, and/or reusable bags with a disinfectant
  • Be sure to wash all fresh produce under water
  • Use disinfecting wipes on items that you will place into freezer and fridge as desired
