Metro's Public Transit Director Tom George provides opening remarks during the first session of the New York State Public Transit Association Conference & Expo.  The conference is being held at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown from November 12-14. 

As Vice President of NYPTA's Executive Committee, Tom introduced the first of the program's key note speakers, Sam Schwartz.  Mr. Schwartz is President and CEO of Schwartz Consulting, LLC., a firm that specializes in transportation planning and engineering services.  Mr. Schwartz also writes columns on traffic for the New York Daily News and the NY Downtown Express.  Previously, he was New York City's Traffic Commissioner and Chief Engineer of the NYS Department of Transportation. 

The annual conference brings together hundreds of public transit colleagues from around the state and business partners from all over the nation, to learn and exchange ideas about how transit and community leaders successfully partner to implement and reform transit, technology to enhance the rider experience, and overall community investment.
