Vicky-Marie J. Brunette has been appointed as the NFTA's new General Counsel, making her the first woman to hold this position in the Authority's history. With an impressive career that spans over three decades at the NFTA, Vicky has served in several key positions, including her recent role as the Acting General Counsel and 14 years as our Deputy General Counsel.

As General Counsel, Vicky serves as the Authority’s chief legal officer, overseeing the legal staff and providing strategic legal counsel and representation to the Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director, and Authority business centers. Her expertise covers a wide range of areas, including business, corporate governance, litigation, real property, procurement, and compliance matters.

As a member of the NFTA’s Senior Leadership and Management Teams, Vicky contributes to the Authority’s  Pride Planning Committees. She is a dedicated member of the legal community and is active in several organizations, including the Erie County Bar Association, where she serves on the Judiciary Committee. Vicky is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, the Defense Trial Lawyers Association of WNY, the Defense Research Institute, and the New York Trial Lawyers Association. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York.

During her career, Vicky has received several prestigious accolades for her work, including the Robert M. Kiebala Defense Trial Lawyer of the Year Award, the Business First Women of Influence Award for her behind-the-scenes contributions, and an Exceptional Performance Citation from the Defense Research Institute. Additionally, she is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo.

Vicky’s contributions extend beyond her professional achievements. She is deeply committed to community service and is Board President for the Ovarian Cancer Project and a member of the Board of Trustees for St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, where she serves on the By-Laws and Nominations/Membership Committees.
