Matthew C. Van Vessem has joined the NFTA Metro team as the Director of Labor Relations located in Human Resources. Matt comes to us from Goldberg Segalla LLP, where he was a partner in the firm for the past ten years. Prior to this, Matt was a partner at another Buffalo law firm, and also worked for the City of Buffalo Corporation Counsel’s office. 

Matt is a highly experienced labor and employment attorney with more than 20 years of success in various areas including collective bargaining, employee discipline, contract arbitration, as well as related legal and administrative proceedings. 

He has represented many public sector employers – large and small – in Western New York, and he has worked with the NFTA for more than 15 years.  Among other things, he has provided daily advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of employees relations, personnel issues, and day to day union related questions and concerns.  He is a graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School.
