William Preston has been selected as a 2020 Black Achiever's Award recipient.
Bill has been employed with the NFTA for almost 30 years. He began his career as a Metro Bus Operator and is currently the Transportation Supervisor at Cold Spring Station. He has proven to be a dedicated professional providing great benefit to NFTA-Metro while taking pride in representing us both internally and in the community. Bill is a humble individual who does not pursue accolades, but has been involved in improving our community through various endeavors.
Bill is a Director in the City Kids Summer Camp initiative with 2020 being his 20th year of volunteering for the program. This program provides a no cost camp for boys and girls from the inner city to experience life outside of their regular environment and mentoring by leaders from our community. This program is intended to build confidence in the attending children and demonstrate the opportunities available for those who pursue quality character traits.
Bill is also involved in Buffalo F.A.T.H.E.R.S. service organization and their Toys for Joy program serving as the Toy Coordinator this year. In partnership with United Way and other community organizations, the Toys for Joy program provides toys for underprivileged children in Erie and Niagara counties encompassing approximately 1500 families each year. The toys are provided at the traditional holiday season for those who may otherwise not experience the joy of a new toy or stuffed animal.
The (virtual) award ceremony was held on October 3. Please join in congratulating Bill on this great honor.
