The NFTA's Public Affairs Director, Helen Tederous, greeting community members and collecting donations

The TSA gift card donation drive, held on Tuesday, March 24, at the Buffalo Airport, was an outstanding success. Throughout the day, community members came together to donate a wide variety of gift cards, including those for groceries, gas, and other essentials. This effort was organized to help ease financial burdens for TSA employees during the shutdown.

Thanks to the remarkable generosity of the Western New York community, the drive collected over $16,800 in gift cards. This incredible showing of support highlights our collective commitment to those who work diligently to keep our Buffalo and Niagara Falls airports safe, compliant, and welcoming.

The NFTA expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, including local residents, businesses, NFTA staff, and volunteers. The unwavering support for these essential workers is incredible.

If you missed the event, there’s still time to make a difference. Gift cards valued at $20 or less can be dropped off at the Buffalo Airport. NFTA/Metro employees can also forward cards to Karen Renna. Our aviation staff will ensure that all donations are provided to TSA agents in need.
